Scot joined JBA Planning in 2011 as an Associate to primarily assist in the operation of the recently established Hunter Office in Newcastle. Scot’s 19 years planning experience within both New South Wales and Queensland, encompasses a broad range of statutory development processes and strategic policy preparation, in both the private and public sectors.
Scot’s statutory planning background provides a comprehensive understanding of the development assessment process from project feasibility through to approval, construction and compliance. Scot has assessed, prepared and coordinated many major development applications and has extensive knowledge of the legislative planning provisions across New South Wales and Queensland.
Scot has also coordinated and assisted in the preparation of a number of strategic and planning policy documents. In particular, he has been responsible for the drafting of planning provisions relating to master plans for new and established settlements and for residential, commercial and industrial development. Having a well-developed understanding of the performance-based assessment approach, Scot encourages innovative and responsive solutions to achieve desirable project outcomes in a timely manner.
Good communication skills and direct involvement in a range of projects, including intensive stakeholder consultation, have provided Scot with the ability to resolve planning and development related issues through a process of negotiation and mediation.
