works. Originally built in the Victorian Free Classical
Style, the building has been recognised as one of
the most significant works of the Colonial Architect
James Barnett (and later the Government Architect
W.L.Vernon) and is generally recognised as one of
Sydney’s pre-eminent public buildings of the
late 19th century.
