JBA prepared a medium-density
residential rezoning submission and draft DCP for
a 7ha former industrial site in north west Strathfield,
south of Sydney Olympic Park. Previous industrial
use meant that site remediation and loss of potential
employment land were key issues, as well as noise,
traffic and ESD considerations. The DCP demonstrated
how the site could accommodate 450-500 unit and
townhouse style dwellings, community facilities
and a neighbourhood shop, all set within landscaped
areas. The rezoning was gazetted in 2002.
