The funding of urban infrastructure
is a critical issue facing cities and regions across Australia
and
the globe.
The planning system plays a key role in delivering infrastructure.
In NSW, the planning regime for public infrastructure delivery
has been overhauled through the introduction
of new legislation that has significant implications for State
and Local Government planners and regulators, and private sector
developers.
The legislation provides opportunities for a wider variety of
approaches to infrastructure funding and delivery, broadens
out the range of infrastructure that may need to be funded,
and formalises the system
for negotiated outcomes through agreements between developers
and State and Local Government.
JBA has been involved in planning
for infrastructure delivery for over 20 years. More recently
we have been at the forefront in developing innovative planning
frameworks to solve complex infrastructure funding
issues for major urban fringe,
and urban renewal/ urban redevelopment projects.
